Can anyone recommend a tour guide, or good book, for Normandy Beaches? I was going to use Battlebus but, they require you to stay within 50 miles to Bayeux the night prior to your tour. My plan was to drive in early the morning of from Mt St Michael. Thanks Tom
Tom,
You could also have a look at These Tours. I haven't used these so can't comment on the type of tour experience they provide (perhaps you could let us know if you decide to try them).
It's unfortunate you won't be able to take the BattleBus tours, as they're incredible!
Cheers!
Rick's book France 2008 has a 10-page description of the beaches, I think I'd call it a tour but it's only 10 pages. Guides other than Battlebus, that might (I don't know) have a different policy re the 50-mile thing, are:www.ddaybattletours.comwww.victorytours.comwww.overlordtour.com (this is the same one given by Ken above)These tours are described in Rick's book. You asked about a book: The Beaches of the D-Day Landings, published by Editions Ouest-France, text by Yves Lecouturier was the best I found when I was there but I'm not sure it's available at Amazon.com.
