We are spending 10 days in France and plan to visit all three of the locations listed above. I am trying to determine if there is better place to be at during the one weekend we have in France. Is it better to be in Paris, Beaune or Normandy over a weekend or does it not really matter? Even if you have not been to all three - let me know your opinion on the places you've been.
Never had that question here. Sunday is a bad time to try to buy gas in the country, and smaller shops/stores in the smaller towns are probably closed. Most things in Paris are open on Sat. and Sunday. Paris museum closures are mostly Monday. I don't know if there is a clear answer to your question: You asked does it not really matter?" and I'd say yes, there is no clear answer one way or the other.
Make a list of the sights you want to see that entail admission. Find out if there is any days of the week when they are closed, and make your plans accordingly.
Otherwise it should not matter.
Consider consolidating your time in Paris rather than making two visits at the start & end of your trip. If you make good connections from deGaulle you can be in Beaune in time for lunch the day you arrive. Or end your trip there and catch an afternoon flight in Paris.
With 10 days, I'd pick Paris and only one of these wonderful destinations. I don't think you are crazy to want to do all three, but you might have a better trip if you can slow down a bit.
Since you ask: I've been to these destinations, though not as often as I'd like!
If you are going to Normandy for the WWII things, its suggesting going on a week-day. Its not as crowded.
I think its better to stay in Paris for the weekend. There's more to do, and even though the stores close earlier, at least they "are" opened.
There is a great Saturday market in Beaune.
