We will be in France next week for a 10-day trip. We will spend 5 days in Normandy and then 5 in Paris. We are veteran travelers who pack light, don't mind moving every day, or driving. This is the itinerary I have planned. Hotels are booked but I want to know if the plans for each day seem too ambitious. We don't plan to go in every museum but just to get a sense of the place. I planned that the sun doesn't set until after 9 so we have long days to walk around town, etc. Suggestions appreciated. Day 1 - Arrive CDG. Rent car. Giverny. Spend night Les Andelys. (Early night after overnight flight.) Day 2 - Rouen - Abbaye d'Jumieges - Eratrat- Spend night Honfluer Day 3 - Drive through Trouville/Deauville - Pays d'Auge - Bayeux Day 4 - All day tour of the American sector Day 5 - Bayeux tapestry - Pays d'Bocage - Mont-St-Michel
Day 6 - Chartres - Paris (leave car at Orly - cab into Paris) Thanks.
It might be a little ambitious but I think it could work! If you wanted to slow down a bit you could delete Chartres and spend more time in Normandy and perhaps Brittany. In my opinion, Chartres is out-of-the way for this trip - better from Paris another time. The only thing of interest in Chartres is the Cathedral. The Caen Memorial is a nice compliment to the American Cemetery if you delete something.
hi, all day for the american sector is fine, but just so you know, you wont see everything there. happy trails.
