My wife and I are planning a week in Normandy & Brittany in early-Spring. Any recommendations on sites not-to-be-missed?
Also, suggestions for B&B, Inns or quaint hotels? Bob Holtan
Bob,
I highly recommend Stuart Robertson of Normandybattletours.com. Stuart was our tour guide 2 years ago when he worked for a tour company no longer in business. It was an honor and a privilege to have Stuart as our guide. Read the testimonials page on web site and you will understand my recommendation. Stuart and his wife have a B&B you can stay at also. We stayed in Bayeux at Hotel d'Argouges and rented a car there to travel to other sites innthexarea after our tour. Jill
We loved Arromonches and the drive there. We also drove to the museum Caen. Jill
We loved Bayeux and the Hotel d'Argouges. We'd second the recommendation for Stuart or Dale Booth of Dale Booth Tours. We had them both as guides when they worked for another company.
Bob:
We visited Normandy in late April 2011. We were on a tour (none of those mentioned above), and if we had it to do over, we would have rented a car (with a GPS) and visited where we wanted and for how long we wanted. Also, consider the weather could be a bit "iffy" in early spring. The day we were there it was sunny and warm in Paris when we left, and we spent the entire day in Normandy with our teeth chattering. It was very cool, windy, overcast and drizzling all day. Don't get me wrong, despite the bad weather we're glad we made the trip, but a car would have made it better, and we could have warmed up during stops.
