How do I (one man) find a simple tour at the last minute (I will be in Bayeux June 20,21) as many appear to have been booked for months. I don't need the details of each company but am interested in the Canadians at Juno. I can rent a car but the cost and logistics seem silly. Thanks.
Doug, Overlord Tours offers one full day of the British and Canadian beaches. Contact them ASAP to see if they can do June 20th or June 21st. http://overlordtour.com/overlordtour_maps.html They seem to have at least 3 vans so I think the groups are no bigger than 8 and it's about 85 euros per day. natively, the museum at Juno Beach which is dedicated to the Canadian efforts there, may offer some tours outside the museum. http://www.junobeach.org/Centre/index.html Enjoy.
Renee
Doug, Have you tried these two firms: www.ddayhistorian.com www.daleboothnormandytours.com I believe they both offer Canadian Highlights tours, and may have an open space in one of their tours. As the other reply mentioned, Overlord Tours is another option. I've taken a Canadian Juno tour, and it was an awesome experience. It certainly made me appreciate the hardships faced by our troops, especially when they were against the 12th SS (however they had some "successes" too). In addition to Juno Beach, visits to the Abbaye d'Ardenne and the cemetery at Beny sur Mer are essential (IMHO). Happy travels!
We did the Canadians at Juno with Battlebus several years ago and loved it. However, I think the "Dale Booth" mentioned by another poster is the same guy that worked with Battlebus when we did their tours and he is an amazing guide.

@ Patty, I thought it might be worthwhile to post an update regarding BattleBus Tours. BattleBus has ceased tour operations under that name, however the owner (Paul) is now operating D-Day Historian tours. Some of the former BattleBus Guides are working for other firms in the area, and some are operating their own tour companies. That's the case with Dale Booth. I've toured with both Paul and Dale, and both are exceptional Guides. Cheers!
