Normandy B&B's?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a B&B in Normandy? At this moment we're considering Bayeux, Caen, and Honfleur. We'll be taking in the WWII site and would like to keep it as cheap as possible, but still have a private room. We'll be there in mid October.

Thanks,

Lloyd

We stayed here:

We were VERY please with the B & B and owner. It is approximately 1 mile from train station. We walked (I was 64) and would probably take a taxi next time.

The bed was the best we slept in during our 8 week trip.

Although not a B&B, a wonderful hotel in Bayeux that we've stayed at 4 times and absolutely love is Hotel D'Argouges. It's in RS France guide book. I highly recommend it.

We stayed here and thought it was perfect.

King size bed, huge bathroom, beautiful antique furniture throughout, lovely little garden, a gracious hostess that produced one of the best breakfasts. I simply felt very immersed in Normandy while I was there.

Bayeux is beautiful, charming streets to stroll down, nice parks, large cathedral and of course the Bayeux tapestry.

Thanks for all the input.

We're looking to hit up the beaches and whatever else we can fit into three days. So a place close to the sites would be preferable.

We stayed a few weeks ago at Hotel Le Bayeux. Easy walk from the train station yet close enough to everything. 12€ for all the laundry you could fit in their bag but 5€ for wifi (way too high). Optional 7.5€/person for breakfast (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice, milk, croissants, bread, packaged cheese, cereals, yogurt) - cheaper than Paris but not a great deal.
Very helpful people. They called local place to get us a good deal on a one-day car rental.

Any preference for a particular part of Normandy? Or will anywhere do? You there for a day or a week? Any reasons for going there - what do you want to do?

We stayed at this B&B in 2007. www.bandb-bayeux.com It was terrific. Francois is a licensed guide and he has a room on the ground floor of the B&B dedicated to the invasion of Normandy. We arrived by train and Francois picked us up at the station. In addition, while we were in Bayeux, Francois made arrangements for us to rent a car (same Renault dealer RS recommends). Bayeux is a great location for exploring all of the beaches. Plus the tapestry is not to be missed.

We stayed at a great one called La Ferme du Pressoir in Villers Bocage. It is a working dairy farm in the Calvados section of Normandy. We used it as a base for the D-Day Beaches, Bayeux and even Mont St. Michel. The hostess, Odile Delalande is wonderful. The Germans completely destroyed their village in WW2, but this beautiful 16th century farm was spared. We stayed in their family room with 3 kids. It also happened to be in October and it was lovely.

Bon Voyage,

Per the 1st response, I have reservations for Sept y @ Lecornu. I researched many posts from Bayeux travellers and eveyone that stayed there gave it an A+, They only have 3 rooms but per the web site all look very nice. My single is 57€
per night and a wonderful breakfast per others who have stayed there.
