Hi, just wondering if anyone can recommend a reasonable place to stay for a couple on a budget in Nimes, Arles and Nice. We'll be there mid September.

We were in Nice and Arles in May and we found that it was hard to find cheaper places to stay in Nice that were still in/around the Old town. We stayed at the Hotel Lafayette which was very nice (good breakfast, clean, free internet, walking distance from train/bus station as well as the beach). I believe we payed 90 euros for it though. In Arles we stayed at Hotel du Cloitre which was also very nice. They have smaller cheaper rooms which we stayed in and we payed 40 euros. It was also within walking distance of everything. Both places are mentioned in Rick's books and both were given good reviews on Trip Advisor.

We used Venere.com to find a place in Nice 2 years ago. It worked out well for us and we paid about 60E for our room. We were within a few blocks of the Mediterranean. It was clean and I'd stay there again. Although I cannot remember the name of the hotel, Venere.com is a great site and the reviews are right on so read carefully. We used it to find places in the other areas you mentioned and found it not to be as helpful in those smaller areas in our price range. Judy
