Nightlife in France

I am still hammering out an itinerary for France (Most likely Paris, Rouen, Then the Riviera). I wanted to know what kind of nightlife resources (clubs, theatre, etc.) are available and where I can find them. I am having a hard time tracking them down.

When you arrive in Paris, or Rouen or wherever, go to the main Tourist Office and inquire. Your hotels will also have some information on night time fun.

Time Out: Paris

Pariscope (published weekly - if you can read French).

Another lady posted this question on this site.... and the webmaster had a great answer... but now I can't find it. Dig deeper into the questions and you'll find out what he said.

Generally speaking the Latin Quarter is a great place for evening entertainment.

I found it.... it's from another posting

For the more upscale places, try the 6th arrondissement and on and around the champs elysees. The Buddha Bar is OK, but it is very touristy but crowd is 30s - 40s. French like to go out in big groups so for nightclubs it would be better to start out in a cocktail bar and meet some people who are moving on later and try to go with them. But one club that has a tough entry that could be good for a solo traveller is Sens (rue de ponthieu). L'Etoile could be OK, but both start very late, so you must go around 1AM.
For music a lot of jazz clubs could be nice. The best are Hot Brass (porte de la villette) and New Morning (rue des petites ecuries Paris 10e). Some others can be found in the 6th (Saint Germain) and around Les Halles (less upscale).

Hi Rags ... you may find items of interest in Tom's Guide to Paris. Just use your mouse to copy the above link, then paste it into your Internet search box and touch the ENTER key on your computer keyboard. Check out the appropriate icons on Tom's home page. If you still have question(s), just send them to Tom via email (click on CONTACT ME)... and have fun! P

Rouen for being a somewhat small city has quite a bit of nightlife. Around the main area Rue Jeanne D'Arc and Rue Gros Horlage where are a numebr of bars, cafes, even Irish pubs and a very large pub called Big Ben's right next to the large clock.

My favorite place however is a bit more French, and a bit more diffacult to find, a bar called Emporium, ask the tourist information how to find it if your interested.

Nighclubs include La Luna, Triplex, D3 and more

If you are in Nice I recommend Old Nice area. There are quite a few clubs and even an Irish Pub.

There is a book series called hanging out in Europe that covers so many places it is unreal. Highly recommend their night life tips.
