After being thwarted twice in getting to Spain from France or Italy, we're flying straight in! I'm researching whether to get passes (for our family of four) or point to point. One thing we'd like to do is the night train from Granada to Valencia (in late June). With a pass, it's roughly $57 extra per person for a berth.
When I look up the point-to-point price, I'm not clear on if the bed price is in addition to the seat price or if the bed price covers the whole thing. I'd appreciate any input on this as well as any sharing of experiences with Spain Rail/Drive passes...Thanks in advance!
Since RENFE hasn't loaded in all schedules yet, you can't book past June 12th to this point....but keep checking daily to see when they load them all in. They usually allow bookings up to 62 days in advance. The prices you see include the accommodations listed. Web specials for, as an example, June 10th show a bed in a two-bed "Preferente" compartment for 38.60 Euro. A bed in a more luxurious two-bed "Gran Clase" compartment can go for as low as 53.20 Euro. These go very fast, but with some attention, you can grab them (and other Web train fares) at considerable savings over a railpass.
