We will be driving from Nice to Aix-en-Provence at the end of September 2009. We are thinking of going by way of Grasse as we will have already spent time along the Cote d'Azur. Do you have any recommendations on interesting towns and sights or scenic driving routes? Any "don't miss" places to see?
Hi Nancy, I too will be in this part of the world in September. I think your idea of going through Grasse is perfect. I think you should stop at Mougins for a lunch on the way to Grasse. I wasn't too fond of Saint Paul de Vence... so I would skip it.... really over run village full of art shops. That is all I really have to offer. I will be watching your post for suggestions also.
Nancy... This is a perfect time of year to be driving in France . We are photographers and the weather and the vineyards are perfect then. We are not big on ther Riviera ,but photograph the small villages. Before you get to Provence, there is an area of France known as the Var. Here there are some wonderful small towns that are great... Cotignac, Tourtours, and the Gorges of Verdun.Cotignac has a wonderful market . I think it is on Monday.
Jeff and Jane, thanks for your suggestions! I was considering going to Tourtours. I'm glad you recommend it, Jane. I'd love to hear any other suggestions.
