Hi everyone,
I am hoping you can provide me with some recommendations of places to stay that you've had experience with in San Sebastian? We are having some trouble finding availability so any personal suggestions anyone has would be greatly appreciated!
Hello, Fellow-Midwesterner! (I'm from Ohio - but live in Madrid, Spain) That's an easy one. There are DOZENS of places in/near "La Parte Vieja" ("Old Town) of San Sebastian in which to spend the night for less than 100€. You won't have any problem. You can stay in small, budget hotels called "Hostales" or, more commonly called there, "Pensiones". These establishments are mostly family owned and operated and have only a handful of rooms - some with in-room bathrooms and some with shared bathrooms. (keep this detail in mind) Several years ago I stayed at Pension Donostiarra and found it clean, basic, and inexpensive. It's not inside the old part but right on the edge in a somewhat nicer, more modern area. Summertime prices for a double are 87€ but other seasons are less. Send me a message, if you like, a list with direct links to all those "hostales"/"pensiones" in San Sebastián which have websites. Saludos, MadridMan @ you-know-where!!
We recently stayed at a great place called Pension Iturriza. It was 83 euro for 2 people with a private bath (although I imagine they charge more during high season). Its fairly new and modern/minimalist, and had a great mattress. The inn-keeper Ibon was very nice and helpful. Its within the old city on a quiet street with no bars, but still very close to everything.
