Nice in October

I'm leaving for my backpacking trip in a week and I'm planning my itinerary for Nice. I will be staying in Nice October 3-5. Any recommendations on what sights and museums to see, activites to do, and places to eat? So far I have vieux Nice, the promenade, Matisse museum, the Flower market, and Le Chateau. Thanks!!

I agree with the suggestions and would add Fenocchio for ice cream (you'll want to visit at least once a day) and Le Safari (cafe) on the Cours Saleya. Enjoy!

for 3 nights you already have a good amount to cover. you may also consider the Chagall museum (really enjoyed it), the Russian Orthodox church (the largest outside of Russia), and don't hesitate to do some lounging on the beach.

I was there at the very end of Sept and it was JUST barely warm enough to get in the water. Loved it.

And for side trips, of course there is Monaco. But I wish I had checked out Eze instead. Oh well, next time. I didn't have time to see the Matisse museum, but that is a big priority next time for me. (the beach took priority last time!).

Definitely do not miss the Matisse museum. And I'll enthusiastically second Amy's recommendation of the Chagall museum.

You could take a half-day trip to Antibes. Walk through the walled old town and visit the Picasso museum.

If you want to combine a visit to a perched hilltop village with great views of the coastline and the sea, take bus #112 from Nice to Eze-le-Village and back.

GREAT place to eat -- Terres de Truffe, 11 rue Saint Francois de Paule (near the Cours Saleya). Also sells truffle oils, etc. Save room for dessert!
