Should we avoid going to Nice during the Cannes Film Festival? Do you think it would be jammed since it is nearby? We are meeting up with our cousins from Italy there on a weekend and wouldn't want to cause them grief. What about Ascension Day and Pentecost Day; is that a major source of traffic, crowds, etc? Thanks.
As long as you can get reasonably priced accommodations, I say go for it! Probably the best people watching anywhere on the planet:) The film festival is more of a trade show, so tickets to screenings are not available to the public. But to appease the locals, there are screenings on a giant outdoor screen right on the beach.
I was in Nice last May during the festival and it wasn't too busy. Book your hotel in advance though. I would have never of known there was a festival going on if I didn't pick up a paper.
Watch out for the Monaco Grand Prix, though.
Thanks, everyone. I hadn't even thought of the Monaco Grand Prix!
