Nice France-Hotel Excelsior

What is the best way to get from the Hotel to the sighseeing areas such as the old city and the promanade-and how long does it take?
Also any comments on stay at the Hotel?
Merci

According to viamichelin.com, it's 1.6km from your hotel to the Cours Saleya in Vieux Nice. That would be about a 20-minute walk. You should be able to walk to the Promenade des Anglais in less than 15 minutes.

Dianna - My husband and I stayed at this hotel two years ago and were quite satisfied. The proprietors were very helpful. If you wish to have a quiet room, make sure you speak to someone before arriving. We didn't and received a nice, but busy room on the road. I would suggest getting a local map at the hotel and using a back road to get to the old town. When we were there the main throughfare was very busy. If you travel one avenue in from this you will have an easier time. Please be aware that Nice is a tourist trap and crime is heavier than in other towns. Protect your valuables and beware of people trying to run scams. We were warned by locals, who saw my cell phone visible, about the criminal aspects. Nancy

Dianna: I was in Nice two weeks ago. The Promenade is great walking, flat and scenic, and leads to the old town, which is more or less at the eastern end of the promenade.

I stayed at the Hotel Excelsior last year and was very, very happy with my stay. The room was clean with a little balcony overlooking a quiet courtyard, a nice big jetted tub, and the breakfast room was large and comfortable with good food...lots of options.

I arrived in Nice without a map or any indication of where I was going and I was able to walk the entire city from the hotel. It took me about 15 minutes to walk to the promenade from the hotel.

Have a great time!
