I need a good, but reasonably priced hotel near the Nice, France airport. We have an extremely early flight out and would like to return our rental car the day before. Any suggestions?
There is a reasonably priced Ibis hotel about 1/4 mile from the airport that my wife and I have used twice. We turn the rental car in the night before, walk to the hotel and catch a taxi in the morning back to the airport.
We stayed at the Novotel or Mercure at the airport. I can't remember which since it was five or six years ago. My husband returned the rental car and then walked back to the hotel as John suggests. I can't remember if we took a taxi to the hotel or if there was a shuttle bus. Either the Novotel or the Mercure will cost more than an Ibis. We like Mercure hotels because if you are a senior citizen (55 or 60 years old or above), you get a room for the price of one plus two breakfasts for the price of one. Obviously, using the breakfast benefit will depend on the time of your flight. The Nice airport for our airline wasn't very big so it didn't take long to check in and go through security. I am not sure if there are several terminals. Have fun!
Bev That 55+ deal at the Mercures in France has been watered down quite a lot. Now the room price is even higher than rack and just gets you one "free" breakfast if both have it. We nearly did that at Lille earlier in the month and when I saw how it is so much worse we stayed elsewhere.
In checking the Mercure website, I have found that the "Senior" rate is now for those who are 60 years old and older. I will have to read more about the breakfasts. I will also check out the "rack rates" without the breakfasts included. Thanks, Nigel for the information.
