Just returned from a week in Paris. A few FYIs: The top floor of the Marmottan is closed. The Picasso Museum is closed. A few windows at Sainte-Chapelle are being restored. Facade of St. Sulpice is being cleaned and partially under wraps. Louvre night visit was such a good idea - NO LINES at all. We needed lots of time for the return flight check-in. 2 complete security checks, luggage searched twice, pat-downs for all.
Thanks for the heads up on Paris. We will be there in May--our last visit was two years ago and St Sulpice was under wraps at that time. I was aware of the Picasso Museum being closed but we toured it on last trip. No museums this time as we had a four day pass last visit and were overdosed on museums.
I also just returned and there were no lines at the Louvre around 11am with a museum pass. No lines at Versailles either. We didn't have any airport delays. The city is beautiful! I can't imagine what it's like with crowds in summer, I'm not sorry I missed high season.
How much is "lots of time for return flight"? We are plnng on 3 hrs from leaving the Hilton very near CDG.
That'll be plenty.
You need to be in line, at security at least 3 hours before your flight. I would be there 4 hrs. I have read on other posts that security will, at times, do two complete security checks, going through luggage, etc. before you get to your gate. Better to be an hour early than 5 minutes late and watch your plane taxi out. Been there done that too.
I flew out of CDG Monday - short lines at security and baggage check. We got there 2.5 hours ahead and had time for lunch and hanging out at the gate.
Thanks for the info, we are going in 45 days! I can't wait. Good to be prepared for the extra security.
