www.swissinfo.ch is reporting early snow in the Bernese Oberland. Reportedly, its the earliest snow since 1931. "Passengers moving between Spiez and Interlaken south of Bern were forced to take buses when rail service there was interrupted around 7am. Broken branches and trees blocked roads." If you are heading that way, plan accordingly.
Yet more evidence of the impossibility of preparing for every conceivable eventuality with regards to weather.
The earliest snow since 1931 - incredible! The trip from Spiez to Interlaken is quite short, so it's surprising this caused disruptions in the rail traffic.
I suppose this will mean a good ski season in the Berner Oberland!
Cheers!
Hey, they had snow in London yesterday too. First time since 1922. They had predicted snow for the Frankfurt area today, but right now it is just rainy and cold.
Another clear sign of global warming....sorry, I couldn't resist!
Our favorite place! I bet it is beautiful there right now. When we were in Gimmelwald (higher elevation) three years ago it snowed early Oct. I guess you just never know when your in the alps!
Mother Nature can really add to a vacation!
