My husband and I are going to be in Paris for New Year's Eve. I'm trying to find something for us to do that night. I know that people say the Champs Elysee is a mad house, people stand under the Eiffel Tower, etc. I'm wondering if anyone has been on a particular river cruise they liked, been to the Moulin Rouge show, or have other ideas for a fun night.

Julie -
Typical New Year's Eve in Paris is quiet with the exception of the Champs Elysees. It is traditional for locals to have dinner at friends house and ring in the New Year that way.
I would recommend booking in at a nice restaurant - but you need to do that now.
Cafe l'Homme - has a wonderful view from Trocadero at the Eiffel Tower. Or even better Restaurant Georges at the Centre Georpes Pompideu has an incredible view of Paris -
Dear Julie,
My husband, myself and our 2 teenage duaghters were at the L'Arc du Triomphe last New Years' Eve. Yes the crowds went crazy but in a very joyous manner. I had been hesitant to go but we had a great time and this event stands out most in our daughters' memories (some of the best things on life are serendipitous. People from Spain wanted to share their Champagne with us and much to our youger ones' distress, Dad vetoed their indulging but indulged himself. The Spanish group and all others were happy, sociable and we had a most memorable evening.
the evening has already gone down as one of our families most referred to "Remember when..."event. Cheers, allyson.
