Does anyone know the process/procedure to get tickets for the New Years Concert with the Vienna Philharmonic. This has always been my wife's fantansy since she was a little girl when she saw it on TV in a small podunk town in West Texas. Thanks
I assume you're talking about the world famous New Year's Day concert by the Vienna Philharmonics. I enquired about tickets in 2005 and they told me the wait was 11 years unless you're somebody official, politically important to the Republic of Austria or the City of Vienna... Also some tour operators hold allocations of tickets and can get you in in shorter time but certainly as part of an expensive package...
Hello, Mark - I just checked the website of the Wiener Philharmoniker and they state that each year from January 2-23 you can enter a lottery for tickets for the following year so concertgoers all over the world have a chance to obtain a ticket. They have three concerts on the lottery - the rehearsal, the New Year's Eve concert and the New Year's Day concert. You have to enter on their website and they'll let you know if you've won by March. You may enter only once per person but you can try for each concert. Just google Wiener Philharmoniker and go the English language website (which comes up as a separate website). I look forward to the concert on PBS each year and will miss Walter Cronkite's announcing this year, for me he was part of the ambiance of the experience.
