New Frankfurt Hostel

There is a new hostel in Frankfurt and I went and looked at it yesterday. They have really lovely rooms, including singles, doubles and family rooms that have kitchens and private bath. I was so surprised by how lovely the decor was. Totally unexpected for a hostel. So, if you are looking for reasonable accommodations in Frankfurt, this might be a good place to check out. They said they would always hold some rooms open during the trade fairs, so regular tourists could find a decent room without paying an arm and a leg. Actually I think all the hostels are forbidden to raise their room rates during a trade fair.
It is called 5 Elements.

Thanks for your post. Prices seem a little steep, however. I sent them an inquiry about early June and was told it's 70 euro weekends and 115 euro weekdays. Ouch! Hotel suggestions you made on another thread were more reasonable (Continental, etc.).

Hmm, I have their flyer here and it does say 70€ for a double with private bath and AC. The family room looks like it costs more, but that would be for 4 people and it has a kitchen in it too. They also have some apts. I think but I dont understand the pricing, as I think they just rent them by the week. Of course if this is the price they are giving you when a big fair is in town then it is a really good price. Otherwise, yeah, some of the other hotels can do better. Did they explain the pricing and the rooms in an email to you?

Also try Hotel Königshof, Mainz, www.koenigshof.mainz.de. About the same price for a single with bath, with sheets.

Hostels are still the best bargain for dorm accommodations, but as they try to include private rooms, the price approaches private rooms.

Have you already looked on www.hrs.com? This way you can check availability, location, price maximum, amenties, etc. all at one glance. They are so easy to use. If you like what you see, you can always go to the hotel website and see if you can get it cheaper, but every time I have done that the hrs price was either the same or cheaper. I have sent quite a few people to Hotel Monopol which they have really enjoyed. Old world elegance at a reasonable price - 65€ and you get a free mini-bar, breakfast, free pastries and coffee through the day. It is right next to the train station on the side.
