I plan to visit Neuschwanstein in mid June this year. Is there a need to make a reservation? I am thinking it's before Europe begins their summer vacation, so there should not be a long line. Is this correct?
Thanks in advance,
Chister

When are you arriving in Hohenschwangau? If early in the morning, like before 9, you should not have any problem. Actually I have on two occasions arrived before noon and had no problem getting a ticket for a castle. This was the line for Neuschwanstein tickets at 11:30 on August 31 of last year. There was one person in line for reserved ticket pickup.
You can also, for a nominal fee, reserve tickets in advance, online or by phone (number on the website).
Does the Passion Play in Oberammergau have an impact on tourism in this area? This "is" the year for the Passion Play, you know.
If your itinerary is such that you can make a reservation in advance, I certainly see no downside to securing tickets online before you go. I was there on July 4 a couple of years ago and walked right up to the reserved tickets pick-up counter in the ticket center with nobody waiting in line in front of me, but there was a decent line for purchasing tickets.
I am having problems trying to reserve for the castles on a fixed date end of May. I have sent 3 online reservations from the website in the past 2 1/2 weeks with no response at all. Sent an email message 2 days ago requesting any contact - as yet no reply. Attempted phone call on Saturday AM, unable to get through. Is there some secret I am missing
John,
I too had problems getting my reservation for the end of July. I just kept sending them emails asking about he online reservation and charge to the credit card and finally, after about a week and a half, got my response and confirmation that all was okay. Just keep emailing them. They must be understaffed.
