Does anyone know anything about Zaanse Schans? Is it worth going to in the winter? Are most exhibits outside? Would there be enough to do there to spend a Saturday?
It has been almost ten years since we've been. I used the RS book and thought my daughters, ages about 12 and 8 at the time, would enjoy it- and they did! We were based in Haarlem and used the train for day excursions, including to Zaanse Schans. This was early March and very, blustery and cold walking from the station to the museum- about a mile, I think- just dress warmly! Most of the exhibits were indoors, anyway. Two of my favorite photos are from that day- one of the girls in the GIANT wooden shoes and another of windmills as we walked. I don't know if you would stay for an entire day, though- I think we combined it with somewhere else, after.
