Needlework shops in Reutte, Salzburg.

My husband and I will be traveling in Reutte and Salzburg in October. I smock and french hand-sew and embroider. Are there any shops in Reutte and Salzburg with needlework that I need to make certain that I see? I would hate to be that close and miss a special spot!

Jane, if you plug in the following website, you'll get the address of a place in Salzburg that sells yarns and wools and other stuff. It seems they're open from 11 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday and you have to pay in cash. The listing says they're across from Wienerwald, which I think is a chicken restaurant. You could also ask in your hotel if somebody knows a "Handarbeitsgeschaeft". That means a shop selling things you need for needlework. I'd assume an older woman would probably know. I don't know if young women still knit and embroider. And I don't know how special this shop is but I'm glad you brought up the subject, I think I'll check it out next spring when I'm in Salzburg.

Since you embroider, you may enjoy the following website - http://www.helenmstevens.co.uk/

I've seen some of her books - her work and designs are exquisite.

Reutte is very small, so should be easy to find what you want if it is there. We stayed at a place that Rick suggested. I can look it up for you. Great people and really enjoyed the breakfast. Dinner at an Italian place around the corner is worth going to.
