When we were in Paris, I found this souvenir musical box which played an amazing tune. I can't remember it anymore. Can anyone recommend what that tune is and which Music CD "name" can I find it in? Thanks!!
Just like the show from the 70s, I'd need at least 2 or 3 notes to correctly "Name That Tune". I would bet money that it's probably something that Edith Piaf sang and if you went onto Amazon and listen to some of the sample audio clips on any of her "Best Of" CDs, you'd find it in about 10 minutes. You don't get more Parisian than Piaf. And did you find the music box at Anna Joliet on Rue de Beaujolais? If so, you may want to contact them by email and ask if you remember what the box looked like (they've got hundreds of them).
Edith Piaf is it. Thanks guys!! I found the track "La Vie En Rose" is what I was looking for. :)
Probably a song by Edith Piaf.
The song "Le Mer" is also very well known. I have this album (below) and really like it. It just has that Parisian sound...though I often wonder if anyone from France would think so: http://www.amazon.com/Paris-Putumayo-Presents/dp/B000E6UX20/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1284998836&sr=1-5
Wow Ceidleh, you're good!
Sonia: Can you go back to your Vatican music thread and clarify that one for us? We're drawing a blank so far on what you're looking for. Ceidleh: Now your mission is to answer her Vatican music question at: http://www.ricksteves.com/graffiti/helpline/index.cfm/rurl/topic/56295/need-to-purchase-vatican-music.html
Kent: Sonia is looking for "music that has the power to transport to heaven". Good girls go to heaven, bad girls go to Europe without a moneybelt and wear jeans that are not washable in a sink. I'll stick to being a bad girl. As for the heavenly Vatican music...I am stumped on that one. I'd say she should listen to Puccini, Pavarotti, Gregorian Chant (even though it reminds me of Monty Python & The Holy Grail), or Tom Petty (who is not Italian, but he has a new CD available on Amazon which I will be listening to on my next European trip).
