I am going to Spain on November 5 for 7 nights and have 4 nights in Barcelona booked. I have 3 remaining nights before I fly back out of Barcelona. Can you recommend a good area(maybe more out in the country side) where I could stay. Willing to take a train ride up to 3 hours away.
You would need to drive, but Castle de la Emporda would be a great choice...check out the web site..fabulous place and wonderful setting in the country.
Girona?

Good evening Jon, Do you have an itinerary planned for Barcelona? Does it include any day trips? That area is ideal for some day trips, all of which are possible by train or bus. In my opinion, Barcelona is worth three days for sure. A fourth day allows for more wandering, which is an ideal way to spend time there. You could remain in the city for the other three days and simply make day trips. Figueres and Cadeques both merit visits. They are in the same direction, so you can stay overnight in one and visit the other. Or, you could make separate trips to each on different days. There is also Monserrat, which is quite amazing. The other major city near Barcelona is Girona, a medieval city that most tourists enjoy. If you rent a car you can drive north along the coast and not only visit Figueres and Cadeques, but other small towns as you approach the French border. The places that I mentioned are all near the sea, but they are small, except for Girona, and you will get that "country" feel. If you go to the RENFE website you can research trains. I hope this helps, and enjoy Spain! Will
