Need recommendation for centrally-located hotel in Dresden

I'm looking for a centrally-located hotel or B&B in Dresden. I prefer to be near the main tourist area, but am willing to go outside the center if there is easy access to public transit. My budget is around 100 Euros per night. I welcome any recommendations. Thanks in advance for your help

Jennifer, check out www.hotel.de - this website is pretty efficient. Click in the upper right corner to find the English version. You can plug in a major site you want to be near, so in Dresden you could perhaps say "Frauenkirche" or whatever. The hotels are described as to amenities and prices and location. Also, the city of Dresden sent me their tourist brochures via airmail (they are written in several languages) after I requested them via the website of Dresden. They have an English version. There is also a website for pensions and rooms but I only discovered a German version. This is it: http://www.dresden-pension.de/verzeichnis.html ----Click on Stadt Dresden (the choice on the left, the others are for outlying areas) and then click on "Bei Lage" - sorted by location - or "Bei Preis" sorted by price.
Let me know if I can be of help in some way; I speak and read German. Dresden is on my agenda for next year.

Jennifer,
We spent just one night in Dresden last May. We stayed at one of the Ibis Hotels by the train station. (three big Ibis hotels there) Rick mentions these in his book. About 10 minute walk into the old town. It was clean, comfortable and fit our needs for a quick stop in Dresden. Be sure to see the famous art museums and churches. (Old Masters Gallery) We loved the Sistine Madonna by Raphael. Have a great trip.

I also recommend the Ibis Hotel. It is located to the left of the train station, about a block away. It is located on a major outdoor mall that leads you to the old town. A McDonald's is located just across the mall from the hotel if you want a cheaper breakfast than what the Ibis offers.

Thank you for your helpful responses. As I checked out your recommendations, I found out that I am traveling to Dresden during a large church convention and I'm having difficulty finding any available space anywhere! However, I'm not deterred, I have confidence something will open up between now and June:) Thanks again for the help!

Jennifer, if you speak German, there is a web site with a listing of all the B&Bs - Pensions in Dresden and a separate one for outlying locations. It does, not, unfortunately, have an English version as far as I can see. I'll add it here, just in case: http://www.dresden-pension.de/ Also, Meissen, of porcelain manufacture fame is not far away and Dresden is easily reached from there. Good luck and let me know if I can be of help, I'm fluent in German.
