We are going on a cruise leaving Barcelona to Italy for a week. To make the most of our time in Europe, we are planning to stay an extra 5 days and need some ideas after the cruise disembarks in Barcelona. Should we go to France and Switzerland? What cities should we aim for and for how long? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

Why not stay in Spain? From Barcelona its easy to get to Madrid. There's flights every hour on the hour, so its easy to return to Barca.

There is so much to see in Spain. I would also agree to stay in Spain..you could consider going up to Bilbaoa and doing San Sebastian area...that coastal area is beautiful. You really don't have all that much time to go to France and Switzerland...I'd say that's another trip.
