Need Hotel Recommendation in Paris

I'm traveling to Paris for a long weekend this spring and our group is booked in a small hotel in Bercy. Some of us are going a couple of days early and the rooms at our group hotel are $177. per night. Should we stay there (and not be bothered with moving) or stay in another area and enjoy the flexibility?
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I find Bercy a little out of the way... I'd try getting a bit more central. Lots of good RS recs in the Rue Cler area.

I've found that staying in the center is usually the most convenient place as far as being able to pop back to your room to grab something you forgot or to drop something off you just purchased but don't want to carry around for the rest of the day. Try using one of these websites to find a place to stay: www.yeego.com
www.alpharooms.com They both have great prices and bfast is ususally included. I've used both and have saved hundreds of euros over booking directly with the hotel.

I would go much more central for your extra couple of nights. Bercy really is quite far out, and you can do better on price - AND be closer to the action - if you check out l'Hotel Hameau, at 48 rue de Passy. Rooms start at 53 Euros for a single, and it is a terrific little hotel. Very clean, very friendly, very safe, in a delightful neighborhood. Their website is here http://www.paris-hotel-hameaudepassy.com/ This is where my husband and I stay every time we go to Paris (about twice a year). While not "central" as in right-down-by-the-Louvre, the Passy neighborhood is a 5 minute walk from Trocadero and the Eiffel Tower. The hotel is between two Metro stops, and easily reached by bus, as well. The neighborhood is charming, the hotel staff is great, and you are a few stops on the #72 bus from all of the major tourist attractions. I can't recommend this hotel more highly - we just love it here. But do know that this is NOT an "American-style" hotel. It caters mainly to European business travelers and tourists. That's one reason we like it so much. And bonus - they've just re-done the bathrooms!

Check out www.hotels-in-paris.com. There is a map of the arrondissments, click on the area that interests you, and a list of hotel websites pops up. You might also check out tripadvisor.com, Paris forum, and you will get loads of suggestions from Paris veterans and locals. All you really experience in the Rue Cler area are RS fans and there is so much more to Paris than Rue Cler.
