I will be traveling in Spain and will have one day and night in Madrid before flying back to the states. Can anyone give a recommendation for a good hotel near the Prado? Thanks!

Not near the Prado but within a 20 minute walk and just up from Puerta del Sol, I'll recommend Hostal Acapulco on Plaza del Carmen. It's inexpensive, very clean, balconies overlooking the plaza, and 4.5 stars on tripadvisor. It's worth a look. Others highly recommend Hotel Europa...Puerta del Sol. I know these aren't near your desired neighborhood, but the walk is easy and enjoyable.
