Need hotel/B&B rec for Brussels please

Staying 2 nights in Brussels in early September. Have just spent the entire morning searching for a fairly central nice B&B or hotel. Trip Advisor reviews on most are very mediocre to poor including Rick's recs. Only one that looks great is Hotel Le Dixseptieme. We like nice but 270 euros seems pricey for the cheapest rooms. Suggestions?

We liked Residence Les Ecrins (http://www.lesecrins.com/en/index.html). It's in a neighborhood near the St. Catherine Subway stop but it's also an easy walk to the Grand Place. When we arrived we were upgraded to a small apartment which was really nice. I think we paid about 90 Euro in September, 2009.

We stayed , in 2006 at a theme hotel at 216 Avenue de Louise
which we believe was called Hotel/Apartment Poirot. Every room is named after a fictional detective. The office is located on another street but you should, if interested , be able toobtain details on the Web. Our room was quite large .

Another vote for Les Escrins. We had an apartment and loved it! The owners are wonderful, the location is very good, the bed was heaven. It's on a very quiet street.

Chris, Have you looked at This Hotel yet? It's in a fairly central location, and not too far from Brussels Central station. Good luck!

We stayed at the Radison Blu EU twice last summer. Rates can be very reasonable if a weekend and they have low demand. Away from the touristy section. Rooms vary in size. Rates well on TripAdvisor. We were able to store glass there for 3 weeks while we went on Rhine River cruise. Breakfast too pricey.

We spent a week here: http://www.bluets.be/
and loved the place. It was like staying with your Aunt. It gets mixed reviews on Trip Advisor about the owner, but we found her charming. She is direct and has rules which work for the benefit of everyone. If you are respectful (and people on here are) you will love it. Rooms are excellent and full of antiques. You can't beat the price. Close to the Monnaie metro but easily walkable to the centre of town. There is a street behind the B&B that is full of excellent restaurants.
