Need help with hotel convenient to Gare du Nord, please

We’re going to be coming into Gare du Nord in Paris and would like to find a hotel that would be easy to get to from the station and that would also be within walking distance of a metro line that goes to the museum district. The hotel doesn’t need to be luxurious, but it does need to have a lift/elevator and be in a safe neighborhood with some nearby eating establishments. We’re looking in the 100-150 euro range. Does anybody have any recommendations? Thank you!

Ibis Hotels, part of the giant Accor hotel network, have 4 in the immediate area of the Gare du Nord. Not luxurious accommodations, but clean and modern...and there are tons of places to eat nearby. Each should run about $100 U-S/night or less, depending on when you're staying. I've stayed at their Gare de L'est hotel (which is about a 10 minute walk from Gare du Nord.)
For slightly more upscale accommodations, check Accor's Mercure hotel chain.

Hi,

I always stay in the Gare du Nord area, very convenient (banks, a post office, grocery stores, restaurants, hotels of 2-3 star quality, internet cafe, call shops), safe, ever since 1987. Numerous hotels ,2-3 star types, dot the area. Just right outside of the station is a Kyriad hotel on Rue de Saint-Quentin, which is in your price range. I stay at New Hotel...can't miss it because of its big sign...located at 40, Rue de Saint Quentin, it has a lift too. On this street are other hotels, among which is a Comfort Inn. No problems staying at Gare du Nord.

We also stayed in the Ibis by Gare du Nord a few years ago and were quite pleased with it. Nice breakfast buffet, decent decor, friendly staff, elevators, comfy bed and bathroom and because of the heat wave that struck when we were there, thankfully it had A/C.

Sure can't beat the price and all we ever did there was sleep at night then went out early every morning. We did have some great sandwiches from one of the bakeries near-by and a very nice dinner at a neighborhood Italian place.

Tom,

If you want a little more luxury in a hotel in the Gare du Nord area, there's one right across the street from the station, parallel to it. It's Hotel Terminus Nord. It's more luxury than I need, when I stay there; tour groups coming by bus stay there often.

Restaurants in the Gare du Nord area are French, Tunisian, Italian, Alsacian, Chinese, French chains such as Buffalo Grill, McDonalds, etc. Relative to other tourists, Americans are way outnumbered at Gare du Nord. They just don't stay there.

What's convenient about Gare du Nord is that the RER, Metro, bus, trains, and Euro-Star--all stop there. You can take the bus instead of fighting the Metro crowd to get to the sites. From Gare du Nord to l'Opera is about an hour walking...I've done it often. To Montmarte 30 mins on foot.
