Need Help - Interlaken Itinerary

I'll be arriving to Interlaken on June 20, 2010 and leaving there June 23, 2010 early in the morning. Would you recommend to stay in Interlaken for the whole 3 nights and explore Gimmelwald, Murren, Wengen as day trips? I would appreciate your suggestion on Interlaken itineray for 3 days. Any recommendation for affordable logding in the area?
thanks

Most people around here will tell you not to stay in "touristy" Interlaken, but rather the mountain villages like Lauterbrunnen, Gimmelwald, Wengen, Murren. As I visit the region off-season I always stay in Interlaken (make day trips to the alps from here), and have no problem with it. There's nothing wrong with the mountain villages, but I like the little bit of night life Interlaken offers and the greater variety of restaurants. IMO no matter where you decided to stay overnight you will have an excellent visit.

I usually stay here:

As Michael predicted:

Nothing wrong with Interlaken, but if you are there to see the mountains I think it is nuts in season not to spend the nights on one.

Yes, the commute isn't bad, but in Murren or Wengen or Gimmelwald you are there for sunset and rise and the Alpenglow is closer.

I've stayed in both places and unless you arrive and the weather is abnormally crappy there is just no contest.

I agree with the other posters. We stayed in Lauterbrunnen for 6 days and nights and loved it. We visited the surrounding villages.

We stayed at the Valley Hostel. Immaculate and has a shared kitchen.
