Need affordable hotel in Paris

I requested help with hotel in Santorini Greece as my daughter will be getting married there. I also need help with affordable lodging in Paris. On my return trip I have a layover in CDG. I want to try to stay there a couple of days as this opportunity will never happen again for me. Would like an affordable, American speaking hotel... preferably under $200 per night. This would be for check in May 17 and check out May 19.
Thank you again for your help!

I recommend the Grand Hotel Gobelins in the Latin Quarter. I stayed there my first time in Paris and they were great. English speaking, breakfast included in price of a room, great neighborhood, Metro stop about 300 feet from the front door, and private bathrooms. I have stayed in many hotels in that town since, but for the money, none were better. It is running about $125-$158 per night depending when you book. Their website is www.hotel-des-gobelins.com Good luck and enjoy your tip!

We always stay at l'Hotel Hameau, 48 rue de Passy. It's a 5 minute walk from Trocadero and the Eiffel Tower. It is convenient to Bus #72, and is directly between the Passy and la Muette Metro stops. The neighborhood is clean, safe, friendly, and full of families. There is a wide selection of restaurants nearby (including McDo), as well as bakeries, a giant Monoprix, several cafes, a dry cleaner, and even a street market one day a week. It is clean. It is quiet (located off-street, on a small courtyard). It is not expensive. The staff is helpful and polite and charming and everyone we've dealt with speaks English (although I usually "force" them to speak French with me. ;-) The hotel answers emails promptly. The WiFi is free. The pix of the rooms on their website are accurate. I have no explanation for the very weird faux fur bedspreads - but they are cozy, albeit odd. :D http://www.paris-hotel-hameaudepassy.com/

If you could stay longer in Paris that would be great, looks like you only have 1 full day there. So much to do!

We will be in Paris at the same time and in our research for a hotel we found Hotel Du Colleges to have reasonable rates. We did rule it out due to possibly not having an elevator but some rooms are priced as low as 114 euros. Gets good reviews on Trip advisor. Take a look.

I'd focus on TripAdvisor for your search. You don't ever say "we" so I'll assume you are looking for a single. You can get a pretty nice single for under $200 per night. You should be able to get a decent single around $130 or even less. Book early. Paris can get booked up quickly and May is prime time. Many hotels have early booking specials. Focus on picking out what you plan to do on your very (even pathetically) short visit. Look at where most of your sightseeing will be done and look in that area first. The Latin Quarter and Rue Cler are frequently discussed areas. Once you pick an area, your TripAdvisor search will go much easier. Air conditioning may not be needed in late May but you may wish you have it especially since you're from Hawaii. Someone I know that lives there descibes Hawaiians (including himself) as weather wimps. If it is "we," you can still get a pretty nice room for under $200. When you see "double bed" in the hotel description of the room, it may be just that -- a double bed -- or it could be a queen or king. The safest thing to do if you don't want a true US double bed is to get a twin.

Just go to booking.com. You can filter your hotel search with your price criteria, using any currency. The site has 1,230 Paris hotels, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding what you're looking for.
