Oradour-sur-Glane, maybe? It's about fifteen miles northwest of Limoges. Drive? Taxi? Walk? There's no train tracks and it's a bit small to have any kind of frequent bus service.

George, As Ed mentioned, you're probably thinking of Oradour sur Glane near Limoges where almost the entire population of the town perished at the hand of the Nazi's. Several men escaped from the Laudy Barn and at least two women and one child escaped from the Church. The original town was left as a Memorial (I believe on de Gaulle's orders), and a new town was built a short distance away. "How to get there" will depend on where you're travelling from and what mode of transportation you're using. If you're travelling by public transport, the easiest method is to take the train to Limoges. From there you can either rent a car for the day, or take the Bus. I found some information on the Bus lines in this post, but not sure how current it is? I found the visit to the Memorial to be very moving. Hope this helps.

I thought it was well worth seeing too. Take a few minutes in the museum, watch the film, look at the pictures, then visit the village. The timeline is part of the reason- the Allied invasion in Normandy had just taken place days before. We had a car and stopped off on our way, for about 1.5-2 hour visit.
