I was planning my trip to France and had all kinds of notes on places to go, things to buy, etc. This list has gotten itself lost.. I had heard or read about a certain regional liqueur most likely from Normandy, as that would have been one of our stops. I'd know the name as soon as I saw it, any suggestions? (it's definitely not absinthe or Cointreau..)
Calvados? It's not a liqueur though, it's a dry apple brandy.
YES!!! First shot too! Man, I love the info on this site.. Thank you!
That was too easy Phillip. All they have in Normandy (besides rain) is Calvados and Camembert.:-) And Monet.
Hahaha let me suggest Benedectine, then, from the abbey in Fécamp . . . It's a liqueur from Normandy, too!! (Even though you already have the one you're looking for, and even though I've never tasted
Benedictine!
Oh, Kim, you should. It is terrific. And don't get sidetracked by B and B. Benedictine should not be diluted by anything.
There's always a bottle of Calvados in my liqueur cabinet. Benedictine? tried it, have a couple of cute original glasses at home but those get filled with Calvados ;-)
I have a feeling Beatrix's method is more my style. Isn't Benedictine one of those "herbals"? I admit to not really being able to appreciate those!
I fell in love with the Kir in Paris, found some creme de cassis here in the hinterlands and drop a few drops in white wine before dinner..... Never tried Calvados, though. Cointreau is good, absinthe not so much by me. Can we help you further reconstruct your list, DK? Or shoudl we quit while we're ahead?
