I am planning a six week visit to Germany, Switzerland, Venice, and perhaps Vienna and Prague (not totally sure about those) next summer (mid-June and all July). I want to experience classical music, chamber music while I'm there and I plan to spend at least 5 days in Salzburg for the music festival. I'd like to hear about other festivals or opportunities to hear great music. I have not decided on an itinerary because I want to hear about music first and book around that! Thx for any suggestions and help with itinerary.

If you decide to go to Prague, check when you can see Don Giovanni at the Estates Theater. At $60 for prime seats, its the best value in the Opera world. This where Mozart himself conducted the premiere in 1787. Although its not a "World Class" production, the performers are upcoming stars of The Czech National Opera, and voice teachers at the National Music Academy. English and Czech supertitles.
