Museums free in Paris on first Sunday of the month

I am delighted that many museums in Paris are free the first Sunday of the month. Does anyone know if the special exhibits are free, too? For example, the Louvre is free, but can I see the Mantagna exhibit for free, too?

Usually, no, the special exhibits aren't free. In the case of the Louvre, their website says "Free admission to the museum on the first Sunday of every month does not include the exhibitions in the Hall Napoléon." So the Mantegna exhibit will cost you 9.50 Euro. It may be a better deal if you go elsewhere on the free Sunday, then pay 13 Euro for a combined Louvre ticket, which gives you the main area, plus the special exhibitions.

Thanks so much Norm. I was just looking on their website, and somehow couldn't find that information.
