Can we reserve entry time for the Rijksmuseum and purchase the Museumkaart in advance on the internet, avoid the Rijksmseum advance entry fee and pay only for the Museumkaart. We plan to be there in September.
Howie
hi, i was there last March and didnt have any issues with entry lines. i went back in Oct, but didnt go back to the museum so im not sure about any lines at that time of the year. also someone here mentioned that there has been some remodeling there, so i may have to go back this sept. happy trails.
There is no way to reserve an entry time for the Rijks. The E-tickets available on their site are just for general admission, and allow you to skip the ticket purchasing line. With the new and improved Rijks opening next week lines may not even be an issue anyways.
This is what their website says about the visiting regime: "Mensen met een e-ticket of Museumkaart en Vrienden van het Rijksmuseum hoeven niet langs de kassa" which means people using Museumkaart can skip the ticket line altogether (and head to the entrance).
Yes, with the Museumkaart you go right in; just show it to the ticket-checker, and you're set. Buy it at a museum that isn't one of the "biggies," like the Amsterdam Historical Museum, and you won't have to wait in line to buy it. If you're seeing a number of museums, it's a great deal, as it covers places all over the country and is good for a year.
