Going to Paris in 3 weeks and will go to Lourve, D'Orsay, and Versailles. Should I get the Paris Pass (which includes metro but pricey or the Museum Pass (no metro, less expensive).
Since kids are free to museums, do I need to purchase a Museum Pass for them. If not, do we not have to wait in line with 2 adult Museum Passes (because they won't have a Museum Pass) or do they just walk in with us? How about Versailles, will they get in free there. Not sure what to buy (and for who) for the best price. Thanks for the help.
You do not need to purchase a Museum Pass for the kids and they can skip the lines with you. At monuments such as the Arc de Triomphe, you will need to stand in line to get the kids a free ticket. The kids will get into Versailles for free. Some of the bigger sites, such as the Musee d'Orsay, will have a separate entrance for pass holders. My advice would be to buy the Museum Pass. It is well worth the price and the metro is cheap.
I went to Paris in March and tried to buy the Paris Pass and it was not available. At the D'Orsay, everyone had to line up outside in the rain for about half an hour.
At the Lourve, there are automated ticket machines which sped up the lines so it was not an issue.
Hopefully it will be different in the summer.
I found the open bus tour very helpful. Get the 2 day tour for an extra few dollars. I also got the 3 day metro pass for the price of 2.
Have a great trip.
