If I'm correctly understanding their website, it sounds like much of the museum may be closed for remodeling. Has anyone been there lately? Can you tell me about your experience? How much was on view?
Thanks
The big attraction to the Rodin complex isn't the museum building, it's the outdoor sculpture garden. As long as that is still accessible, it's worth visiting.
Sherry, According to the information listed on the website..... "After 3 months closed, the hotel Biron partially reopens. Visitors won't be desapointed : a temporary itinerary named Masterpieces on the Move shows the most important works : Rodin's The Walking Man, The Bronze Age, and The Cathedral, as well as The Wave, The Waltz, and The Gossips, by Camille Claudel, are presented in the 11 rooms of the east wing.
The west wing is closed until april 2013." That sounds like at least part of the Museum is open, and of course the Gardens will be open. I'd still plan a visit to the Museum. Happy travels!
Sherry, Jenny, from the helpline, posted the following about a week ago about the Rodin museum. Here it is: "I was there last month. Almost the whole collection was still on display, but as they work on the building in stages, much of the indoor sculpture is displayed very tightly on the ground floor. It's more like walking through an attic jumble than a museum display, in that portion of the house. It won't take you more than a minute to pop your head in the door and see if you want to see the indoor sculpture in that setting. I did. It's going to be a great improvement though, and the garden is unaffected."
Linda, thanks. That was really helpful. I only have a little over a day (just passing through Paris) and was debating how to use it. My favorite pieces are inside the museum, and that comment about actual experience was very helpful.
you're welcome Sherry.......
I was at the Rodin museum in June and the whole place was open. The courtyard in the thing to see.
