I've been reading in the RS Switzerland guide that many small towns are basically closed down on Sunday. Currently, my day for Luzern happens to make the most sense on a Sunday, same for Murten. Should I try to change things around so that I am in those towns on a different day besides Sunday? Or is it still just as fun to see on a Sunday? Thank you!
Also, if I am traveling on a budget (staying in hostels), and there is no hostel in Murten but there is in Bern, does it make sense to go to Murten but then go back to Bern to sleep?
Stores are closed almost everywhere on Sundays in Switzerland; small town or big city. I was in Luzern on a Sunday back in May. All the tourist sites were open. All the restaurants were open. Only a few souvenir stores were open in the city center. At the train station, all the stores in the underground shopping complex were open including the supermarket.
