Murren Three Days in September

My wife and I are heading to Murren for three days in late September on on a Mon/Tue Wed. Do I need to make a reservation or is it a slow time? Recommendations on resturants or places close by that we got to see's or thing off the beaten path I don't want to miss. Thanks!

Def. make a reservation. The village has limited accomodations and the best values are small. you do not say your budget but we loved a B&B. Chalet Fontana in Murren. very central, friendly, very clean and great value. Restaurants are close by we liked Edelweiss Hotel terrace cafe casual, affordable, tasty and a view that you will remember.

Thanks JS. Our budget is around 125-150 dollars per night. I will check those places out.

Thanks Denise...was it slow that time of year? Sounds like it since lots of the resturants are closed that time of year. How was the weather in Sept there?

Mürren is absolutely stunning and you won't want to leave. We've been there 4 or 5 times in the Chalet Fontana with the fabulous Denise Fussell, and we NEVER want to leave. It's like home away from home now - it probably will be the same for you.

This is the Chalet Fontana love fest!!! It is a great place and Denise is an awesome host. I would make reservations though. Murren was the highlight of our 3 week trip last year. Have a great time

Last September we stayed at the Hotel Alpina. This hotel sits on the cliff overlooking the valley with awesome views of the alps. Internet access is only in their lobby, however, there is no charge. The buffet breakfast is great. We like to get a room with a balcony. Their rooms are a bit worn, however, for me, the price is right. In Muerren, there is a small grocery store and lots of restaurants. We did find many of them closed in late September. From Muerren, you can walk down the path to Gimmelwald which is a very small, quaint town. Use the Rick Steves' tour book to guide you on your walk through the town. We stopped and bought cheese at the little cheese hut mentioned in his book. If you don't want to walk down, the Stechelberg cable car stops there on the way up/down. Have a great trip!

Hank! We stayed in Murren - Hotel Alpina last September and had a wonderful time! The first day it rained but then the weather was fantastic. We had a swiss pass and took the train and gondolas up and down from interlaken - lauterbrunnen and murren and up to Schlithorn. Bellvue for dinner was yumm! Our favorite place out of our 3 week trip!

Cookie and Chris, Thanks for the great info! Do either of you remember the price of the Swiss pass, where you get them, and is it worth it for us to buy one if we are there for only three days? Hank
