I went to Gimmelwald in 2007 based on Rick's recommendation and found it to be absolutely incredible. I am now planning my honeymoon for June 2009 and would like to take my fiancee to Murren for 3 days! I am struggling to choose which hotel would be the best for us. Warm hospitality, nice amenities/rooms, and great views are a must. We're also interested in good food, maybe a pool/spa, etc. Most threads & guidebooks seem to point to Hotel Eiger, but Alpin Palace, Blumental, and AlpenRuh also seem great. Quality/luxury is important, but not as important as being at a hotel with pleasant staff who are happy to have you. Thanks!

I've personally stayed at Chalet Fontana and Hotel Alpenruh. The Alpenruh is definitely more upscale than Fontana, and they do have great food in their restaurant. If you stay there request a room as high as possible. The rooms on the ground floor have their views obstructed by trees.
I've also heard many good things about Hotel Blumental. It's rated very high on TripAdvisor and Denise from Chalet Fontana recommended to me for friends who required more upscale amenities than the Chalet Fontana offered.
I've only been to Hotel Eiger for dinner on one occasion, and I was not impressed with the food. However I know nothing of their actual hotel facilities.
