My wife and I decided to pack light and only brought along rain proof jackets and long pants knowing that we could purchase layering clothes if needed. Now that it looks like they may be needed, are there any reccomendations for shopping in or around Murren? We are driving from the Alsase,fr region.

As you are passing through Interlaken, there are large supermarkets across the street from both the West and Ost train stations. They have large general merchandise sections, and there should also be a clothing store within the enclosed shopping centers. They both have parking garages. Lauterbrunnen and Murren have pricey high-end stores selling brands like North Face if you're looking for that.

We just encountered lots of rain during our visit to the area and needed to purchase a few things which we did in Murren. I don't know the name of the store but it was just down the street a little ways from the (only) grocery store. If you walk downhill from the grocery store it's on your left. It is a "high-end" store but we found some great things in their sale area. We looked at prices online when we got home and realized that they actually weren't marked up very much. Considering what's involved to get product up and the fact that we will definitely use the items again in the future we were pleased.

It's been unseasonably warm here in Switzerland this entire week. While temps are cooling, you'll likely be good to go with a rain coat and long pants, even in the mountains.
