Hi Folks,
I'd like to know about inexpensive ($40 and under) accomodations in or near Murren or Lauterbrunen, Switzerland. I'm especially interested in renting a room in a private home, even if it's in Interlaken. Any ideas?

The mountain hostel in Gimmelwald might be under $40 a night, but I couldn't guarantee it. This is one of the most expensive corners of Europe. Budget options are rare.

Chalet Fontana in Murren is about the cheapest place in all of Murren...but it's also ranked #1 on www.tripadvisor.com for it's excellence. Denise Fussell, the owner, can be reached via email [email protected]

The valley hostel in Lauterbrunnen as a few options under that price range. I think even a single room/private room is right at or under $40.
