I have been to the Berlin Zoo on a 2 day trip to Berlin and really enjoyed it. Is the Munich Zoo worth visiting? or comparable? And how long would it take to goto Munich Hpthoff to the Zoo and back as far as the day
Wouldn't you rather see things that you CAN'T see in Florida...
that is true, but i believe that visiting zoo's, movie theaters, markets is the best of what traveling is about, no tourists!
Bryan, if that is how you like to travel, why go to the overly popular tourist cities? Why not go someplace else? A zoo is the very last place on my own personal list of places to go when visiting a foreign country, unless I was traveling with small children.
Go to some smaller towns, they are everywhere. I like grocery shopping too, but you will meet more people by going to cafes, then you will by going to the movies. Go to local festivals, especially street fests. Go on a walking tour and ask your guide where to go to see regular, every day life, you will be sure to get some great ideas.
Using Tim's logic, I guess we also shouldn't be visiting be visiting museums, churches, mountains, or beaches when in Europe. After all, we've got those here too:)
Go for it Bryan, it's your vacation, your money, your time. IMO when traveling it's essential "mix it up", and do silly thing like visit zoos, wax museums, theme parks, and torture museums. And like you said Zoos are usually filled with locals not other tourists.
As far as the movies go, im a movie nut anyway... but after being out, sometimes in the heat and walking 5 or 10 miles it seems, its nice to relax in a air conditioned movie theater seeing the latest summer blockbusters. Also it is inbtween having dinner and drinks!
Also on a related note: Here in the states, when a movie is over, the credits start to roll the lights come on and people ususally leave then.. in Germany the two times Ive when to the movies, (in Berlin) at an art house and Potsdammer Sony center.. the lights stay on until the last credit rolls and everyone stays and watches the entire credits, then the lights come on and everyone leaves.. is this a German thing?
I would definitely go to the zoo, because something tells me it's all happening there.
I do believe it.
Only in Wales, Neil, only in Wales.
