We'll be traveling to Lauterbrunnen from Munich, hoping to make the trip in one day by train. Have others made this trip before? How much time should we expect the travel to take?

I haven't done this trip before but www.bahn.de shows it as an 8-hour journey. This website also permits the tickets to be purchased and sent to you. It does show Munich to Lauterbrunnen but don't be surprised if they only ticket you to Interlaken Ost. The Swiss want Swiss Francs for the last leg from Interlaken Ost into Lauterbrunnen. This happened to us coming from Italy where we bought our tickets with Euros. This is not a big worry as the train into Lauterbrunnen is a local that runs every 30 minutes. It's a 20-minute ride. Just buy the tickets at the window in Interlaken Ost.
