Munich Rentals and Hotels

I stayed in this place once; it's recommended by Rick in his Germany guidebook: http://www.pension-beck.de/ In a quiet neighborhood not terribly far from the Marienplatz; was a pretty easy walk from there. If I recall, it also put me in relatively close proximity to the Deutsches Museum (FANTASTIC, btw!). It's a typical Rick suggestion; clean, small, family run, etc. Not "luxurious," but certainly comfortable, and a good value. On 2nd trip to Munich, I stayed here:
http://www.the4you.de/en/youth-hostel-munich/ Place I found on my own. Lower floors are a hostel, but the higher few floors have hotel rooms (clean, pretty spacious, private bath, etc.). It's also near the Marienplatz area, but much closer to the HauptBanhoff; sp! (main train station). Also on a quiet street, so no noise at night. And VERY reasonably priced. Hope these help. We stayed last May at Hotel Mark. $62 Euro per night including a very good hot breakfast. Very clean, small. But who cares for we only slept there. Just a short walk 1/2 block from the train station too. NO a/c however. Make sure to hit up some beer halls for us.

Two hotels that I have stayed at are: 1) Hotel Uhland, (RS recommended hotel) they have weekend deals if you are there on a weekend. 2) Hotel Laimer Hof which is in the Nymphenburg area. This is probably my favorite B&B type hotel anywhere, it is away from the marienplatz but is in an upscale pleasant neighborhood. The owners are great and look at tripadvisor it is #2 in Munich (Mandarin Oriental is #1 at about 500 euros / night!!) There rates are also lower on the weekend.
