Hi guys-
I am an aspiring photographer who will be in Munich this fall for the opening festivities of Oktoberfest. I am looking for advice on where to watch the parade that opens the festival, especially good vantage points where I could photograph all the action.
Any other tips like open air food markets or local guides you could recommend would sure be appreciated!

Leslie, i saw the parade 2 years ago, it was great! This is what i found on line for this year.
Date:
Saturday, 18th September 2010, 10.45 am and lasts about 45 minutes.
Route:
Sonnenstraße-Schwanthalerstraße to the Oktoberfest grounds.
we chose a spot towards the beginning of the route and we got there 1 hour before it started, There was nobody in front of us, we took lots of nice pictures.
For open air market the Viktualienmark is great, good food, and good opportunities for pictures too! Hope this helps! Have fun!
