Munich in April

I inderstand that the weather in April/May is extremely unpredictable in Munich. My husband and I are planning to visit, and that's the time of year that makes the most sense for us. We can save a significant amount of money by going mid-April. Is the weather s unpredictable in both months that we might as well save the money, or would you go in early May instead?

Last year we took a trip in early April ending in Munich. This year we were in Munich in June. It is a matter of personal taste, but we preferred April.

April was cool with a mixture of sunny and rainy periods, nothing that an umbrella could not easily handle. Crowds were relatively light as well. Seating was open at the restaurants. Flowers were just starting to bloom as we left.

June was muggy hot when we were there. Crowds were everywhere. Museums saved on costs by limiting air conditioning to specific areas. June was a bit nicer for evening walks.

I totally agree with going in the off or shoulder season. It makes perfect sense with lower prices, fewer tourists, and cooler temperatures.

We went to Munich this past March, and even though the weather was a little cool and even some snow, we thoroughly enjoyed every minute and would not have changed anything.

I was there 2 years ago mid May. It was freezing and it did rain a day but only for an hour. The city wasn't crowded and it was very pleasant. If you are able to get a great deal for April, go for it. Or even May. The more money you save on air/hotel, the more money you can spend enjoying the sites!

We have been in Munich in April for the past three years. Only once did it rain. The crowds are tolerable, but the weather can be uncomfortably warm - very unpredictable.

It's the best time, in my opinion.
